Senbis

One World. One Market. One Source. BPX.One

Senbis is a Dutch company that divides its activities between R&D services and the production of sustainable polymeric products. The R&D activities are performed by Senbis Polymer Innovations and the products are sold by Senbis Sustainable Products.

Sustainable innovation is our core business
Senbis is not your typical production company. We do not operate an extensive and capital intensive production machine park. Instead we operate an extensive polymer laboratory and pilot plant facilities in which we work with a team of highly experienced polymer chemists and specialists.

Every day we work on sustainable polymer innovations. Our strategy is not to fill a factory. We develop products based on very specific market demands, independently of the required production technology. This gives development flexibility, provides more room for creative solutions and in the end leads to functional and affordable products. After the development phase we look for production partners. So the products of Senbis Sustainable products are typically produced at a toll manufacturing site, based on Senbis recipes, instructions and quality control guidelines.

In the plastics industry we see a clear trend going on towards sustainability. Unfortunately many sustainable plastics do not meet the requirements yet for many applications. Innovations are required to come up with sustainable solutions. This is exactly what we’re good at. Our products typically have one of the following sustainability criteria.

Biodegradable (in soil or water)
Compostable (home or industrial)
Bio-based
Recyclable
Life time extension
In the interactive diagram below you can see how Senbis comes to these innovative sustainable products.

Before Senbis develops an own product, we investigate if there is sufficient market demand and a profitable business case.

The global plastic challenges are massive – so is the list of potential products that Senbis could develop.
A lot of products Senbis would like to develop and for which we see a huge theoretical demand face the challenge that consumers are still not willing or incentivized to pay more for a sustainable alternative. In this case there is unfortunately also no business case for us that justifies the investment for the development of these products.

In most cases, Senbis does not look out for products herself, but potential customers reach out to us and ask if we can help to develop a sustainable solution. This gives us the advantage that we have experienced market players that give feedback during the development phase and can act as a launching customer when sales can start.
