L C BioPlastics

One World. One Market. One Source. BPX.One

LC BioPlastics is the coordination – the “choreographer” – of the components required to deliver a finished product with the economic and performance characteristics required by the application. We refer to this as “participating in the supply chain at those points we bring value”. We have established relationships with manufacturers of plastic films and plastic bags, converters, injection molders, blow molders and our resin manufacturer. We are also testing product with a foam extruder with the intent of sending the output to a converter, so we can explore additional opportunities.

Following our strategy to pursue consumable products, we identified plastic can liners as a highly consumed product. We have earned the USDA certification for “biobased can liners” and “biobased courier bags”. Our products are 100% American made!

The increased usage of bioplastics is linked to the better understanding of what plastics and bioplastics are—and aren’t—and how they are developed and can uniquely benefit a wide spectrum of businesses and applications using plastics. It is in this light that moving the bioplastics needle deserves industry support in terms of research, promotion, and continued communications.

There are many more ideas we can pursue! What is your idea?

Our products are those whose value is enhanced by using bioplastic resin. Bioplastics produced from biobased polymers can perform the same as a polymer produced from a fossil source. Examples of common fossil-based polymers with partially or fully biobased equivalents are: polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and several types of polyamides. These bioplastics have the same property and processing characteristics as their fossil-based equivalents because those properties are driven by the polymer chemical structure rather than by the source of the carbon.

Bioplastic that is not compostable or otherwise biodegradable is ideal for applications such as durable goods and items that are recycled. Other biodegradable bioplastic applications include soil and marine biodegradability. Soil biodegradability is useful for agricultural and landscaping applications including mulch films and repellents, which can be tilled into the field after use instead of being removed and sent to landfills.
