Great River Plastic Manufacturer Co., Ltd. is designed and engineered to create the highest quality of bioplastics in the most consistent manner. Our manufacturing facility is located in Qingyuan City, Guangdong province, China. Great River has had over 20 years of experience in the plastics industry; however, around a decade ago back when environmental concerns were not as great as it is today, Great River supposed the inevitable change in demands and preferences towards more sustainable plastic products (in fact, a 2019 United Nations resolution saw 170 nations committing to “significantly reduce” the unsustainability of our plastic consumption trends).

That is why Great River devoted surmountable amounts of research, time, and focus on developing eco-friendly products. One particular area we believed needed innovation was in the sphere of food packaging (currently, close to 40% of the world’s plastic consumption is in food packaging, most of which are designed to be single-use). However, not all eco-friendly bioplastics in food packaging take the same expertise to make. For example, Polylactic Acid (PLA) straws or cutlery are extremely easy to make and held low barriers to entry. Therefore, our firm positioned ourselves to innovate in a direction where others have not. We decided to specialize and pursue the task of creating plant-based PLA lids for high heat applications (e.g. for hot coffees or soups).

This is a notoriously difficult task as PLA is a material with a relatively low melting temperature (stable at around 50°C) and the task of making lids to be tight-fitting has its challenges too. That is why we have created our crystalized PLA (CPLA), enhanced to be highly heat resistant to be applicable in its usage for hot liquids. It has taken the company years of research and development to get to this stage where we can proudly say that our plant-based CPLA hot lids are of the highest quality and the most consistent on the market. We realize that there are many younger companies advertising false claims or making claims without evidence for their eco-friendly products; however, that is why at Great River, we are dedicated to backing up our products with the strictest standards and institutions the world has to offer. After years of research and development, it is with pride that we are now supplying our CPLA hot lids to 50+ companies around the world, including industry leaders in the food packaging industry.
