Glucotain®
THE MILD SENSATION OF SUGAR-BASED SURFACTANTS
GlucoTain® is our range of sustainable sugar-based surfactants for the personal care sector. GlucoTain® products are high-performers and include added consumer benefits, such as heightened mildness properties and a unique sensory experience. Furthermore, GlucoTain® is a biodegradable alternative with a renewable carbon index (RCI) rating of over 95%.
Glucopure®
ACHIEVING A SPARKLING CLEAN AND STAYING GREEN
GlucoPure® is a high-powered, glucose-based surfactant for dishwashing liquids. Not only is GlucoPure® based on 95% renewable raw materials, but it contains RSPO-certified fatty acid esters or triglycerides. Furthermore, GlucoPure® is biodegradable thanks to higher usage of renewable resources and bio-based raw materials.
International test and certification body TÜV Austria Cert GmbH has granted official certification to several of Clariant’s bio-based processing and dispersing additives.
The company’s Licocare RBW Vita range, Licolub FA 1 and Licowax C have earned the OK compost INDUSTRIAL certificate, signalling they are guaranteed as biodegradable in an industrial composting plant, in accordance with the criteria of the EN 13432 standard.
In addition to achieving industrial compostability certification, Clariant’s Licocare RBW 102 Vita was also awarded the OK biodegradable SOIL label, a key advantage for agricultural applications.
The company’s range of Licocare RBW Vita additives, which are based on rice bran oil, also belong the EcoTain product portfolio. Products bearing the EcoTain label have undergone a systematic, in-depth screening process using 36 criteria in all three sustainability dimensions and hence offer outstanding sustainability advantages.
Clariant’s Licocare RBW Vita wax products are based on >98% renewable content, and enhance both processing speeds and performance, providing glossier, smoother surfaces and higher durability for the final product. The soil biodegradable RBW 102 Vita product contributes to better film forming and flowability, increased water resistance and anti-caking. In addition, it can decrease the environmental impact of agricultural coatings in the soil.
The OK compost INDUSTRIAL label offers converters the assurance that the product is compatible with the industrial composting facilities used to recover biomass at the end of life and will support the commercial adoption of bioplastics into an ever-wider range of applications.
“Converting bioplastics into commercially viable goods has long been limited, among the others, by the lack of suitable bio-based additives. Our performance-boosting, renewable solutions take on this challenge,” said Manuel Mueller, Global Market Segment Leader, Clariant BU Additives.
EcoTain Products
Products that offer outstanding sustainability advantages are excelled with our EcoTain® label. These products have undergone a systematic, in-depth screening process using 36 criteria in all three sustainability dimensions: social, environmental and economic. EcoTain® products significantly exceed sustainability market standards, have best-in-class performance and contribute overall to sustainability efforts of the company and our customers.
OUR COMMITMENT TO A SUSTAINABLE BIO ECONOMY
Governments worldwide have set ambitious targets for environmental and climate protection. Yet around 95% of all industrially manufactured goods currently rely on the availability of fossil fuels. The bioeconomy is increasingly recognized as a way to enable society to live well within the limits of our planet. Tomorrow’s economy depends on today’s shift to the bioeconomy and this shift comes with a huge responsibility – to harvest and process biological resources efficiently and in a way that preserves ecosystems and biodiversity and respects human rights.
With demand for bio-based chemicals set to grow strongly through 2030, Clariant is committed to fostering the transition to a sustainable bioeconomy – that protects nature and maintains high social standards. Where biological resources are sustainably managed, recovered and reused as much as possible.
Clariant has established research and development centers and biotechnology facilities where we test a variety of different feedstocks and develop these into high performing, sustainable solutions for our customers. We also partner with experts in our value chains to source and process plant ingredients sustainably.
Our commitment to a sustainable and circular bioeconomy reflects our goals to develop innovative, sustainable, and bio-based chemicals, as well as achieve our ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets.
