BIO-FED

One World. One Market. One Source. BPX.One

BIO-FED, a branch of AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH, is a specialist for innovative and application-oriented biocompounds. Depending on the requirement profile, these compounds are biodegradable in various environments or suitable for long-term use and can also be either completely or partially made from renewable sources.

The BIO-FED team are experts in the development, compounding and marketing of biodegradable and biobased plastics. Our experienced plastics specialists can help you with customised technical solutions for your specific application.

BIO-FED is a branch of AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH and belongs to the Feddersen Group. BIO-FED’s head office is located in Germany on the grounds of the BioCampus Cologne, one of the largest biotechnology parks in Germany. BIO-FED uses the production and laboratory facilities of AKRO-PLASTIC and cooperates closely with AF-COLOR, another branch of AKRO-PLASTIC, in the development and marketing of biopolymer-based color, carbon black and additive masterbatches called AF-Eco® biomasterbatches. AKRO-PLASTIC and AF-COLOR are based in Niederzissen, Germany.

Our M·VERA® compounds are produced by AKRO-PLASTIC in Germany since BIO-FED is a branch of AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH. In the past 30 years, AKRO-PLASTIC has grown steadily and has extensive expertise in the area of plastic compounding and an annual global production capacity of approximately 180,000 tonnes. M·VERA® products are well established in a number of applications and can be used in various processing methods.

Our bioplastic film compounds are used for products like shopping bags, fruit and vegetable bags as well as for labels, agricultural applications and a lot more. Our bioplastic materials for injection moulding can be used for coffee capsules, cutlery, cosmetic packaging, toys, plant clips and so on. All our products can be colored individually with our AF-Eco® Biomasterbatches.

Our M·VERA® biocompounds can be used for a wide variety of applications. They are suitable for different processing technologies and can be processed on conventional plastics machinery. Drying is usually not necessary as our biocompounds are delivered ready for use. Furthermore, M·VERA® biocompounds can easily be colored with our AF-Eco® masterbatches.

We have several biocompounds in our portfolio:

With different certificates of biodegradability
With different amounts of renewables and/or biobased carbon content
M·VERA® A series for agricultural films
M·VERA® B series for bag applications
M·VERA® BR series for high biocontent film applications (e.g. flexible packaging)
M·VERA® GP series for general purpose applications (e.g. injection moulding, extrusion and thermoforming)
AKROMID® S series for durable applications
