A component of this material is lignin, which is the second most common polymer in nature after cellulose. Lignin is a by-product of the pulp industry and is produced in around 50 million tons worldwide every year. If you mix lignin with natural fibers (flax, hemp or other fiber plants) and natural additives, you get a fiber composite material that can be processed under temperature and pressure increases and that can be processed into molded parts on plastic injection molding machines.
